August 1, 2017 - Regular Meeting

Chairman Linda Woodward called the August 1, 2017 Regular Meeting of the Montour Township Planning Commission to order at 6:30pm in the municipal building, Rupert, PA.

The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Members present:  Chairman Linda Woodward, Vice-Chairman Forrest Bennett, Secretary Robert Webber and Paul Kreisher.  Absent: Josh Turner.

MOTION Forrest Bennett, second Robert Webber, to approve the agenda as revised.  Motion Carried.

MOTION Paul Kreisher, second Robert Webber, to approve the minutes of the July 5, 2017 meeting as drafted.  Motion Carried.

The public hearing on the revisions to the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Map will be held on August 30, 2017 at 6:30pm. 

Jerry Walls continues to work on the ordinance updates as discussed in the June 6, 2017 meeting.  The next meeting with Jerry Walls should be scheduled early in 2018.

Questions were received by email from Gail Mullen, 42 Perry Avenue, concerning (1) revision of only certain areas in the floodplain to conservation and (2) changing prime farmland from agriculture to suburban residential.  The Planning Commission agreed that these questions will be addressed in the August 30, 2017 public hearing.

Paul Kreisher asked about Roberts Automotive and if any action has been taken by the Township.  He also discussed the warehouse at Stoltz Stoves.  Part of the business parking lot is being used by a neighbor as a storage area.

MOTION Paul Kreisher, second Robert Webber, to recommend the Board of Supervisors give the Zoning and Enforcement Officer power to enforce Township code violations that are not corrected in response to a personal contact or correspondence warnings with the power and authority to initiate citations and enforce fines.  Motion carried unanimously.
